1963: John F. Kennedy administration
- Trellis (English Collection)
The Cabinet Room, located in the West Wing, is the meeting place for the president, his cabinet secretaries and his advisors. A diamond-patterned jade English Trellis rug with gold medallions anchored the room during the Kennedy era. Built in the Georgian style, the room features neoclassical moldings and French doors. It has remained largely the same since its completion in 1934, however, the room was refurbished in 2006 to resemble its Roosevelt era incarnation. Art Deco style wall sconces with spread eagles were added, and three overhead "Moderne" style glass pendant lights were recreated from old photographs. The room is painted in deauville (off-white).
